I

My natural HairAs some of you may know, I was natural for about 2 years of my life (picture to the left). During that time, I felt free, liberated of the European standard of beauty, and…more..black (does that make sense?) Well, in Nov/Dec of 2006, I grew tired of the same look and decided to go for a ‘texturizer’. A good friend of mine recommended a stylist and so, I went.

This woman did WONDERS with my hair. It’s healthier than ever before…it’s grown quite a bit, and I’m completely content when I leave her salon. I will not give out her name/salon (because that would just be unprofessional), but the problem is that this heffer won’t respect my time! I make an appointment for 4pm, get there at 3:45 and guess what? She’s so consistently overbooked that she doesn’t even touch one hair on my head until at least an hour later. Now, I respect her for trying to maximize her profits. From what she’s told me, she has 4 kids and works 6 days a week. She’s on that paper chase, and I wont’ fault her for it. Some women may be content in having to be in the salon for 4 – 5 hours just for a shampoo, but I’m NOT. I have ‘ish to do!.

I’ve been going to her religiously for almost a year now, and the same thing happens ever time! I’m angry, waiting, waiting and waiting and WAITING…and just before I’m about to give up and walk the f** out, she calls me up to her chair. Then the shampoo, then more waiting…and more anger as I watch her do 10 other girls’ heads at the same time. What’s the point of making an appointment if it means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the stylist?
